The MV Febrina, together with its skipper/owner Alan Raabe, is synonymous with the outer reefs, remote dive sites and isolated areas of New Britain. Basically nobody knows the waters of New Britain better than Alan does. And no other boat has been where MV Febrina has – so many times…

Alan has been living, diving and skippering boats in Papua New Guinea since 1991. He is very well known in the global diving community… And everybody who has met him seems to have an “Alan Raabe story” to tell!

Often referred to as “larger than life”, a “character” and much more. The irony is that Alan is all that and more. But beneath the sometimes chaotic and often very funny exterior is an extremely committed, capable and knowledgeable individual. Simply stated Alan goes out of his way to ensure his guests get what they came to PNG for.. 

MV Febrina is based from Walindi in Kimbe Bay and operates from there for about two-thirds of the year. And from Rabaul at the eastern tip of New Britain for the rest.

From Walindi, Febrina covers the remote Witu Islands to the north-west of Kimbe Bay. Plus the Fathers Reefs at the eastern edge of the bay. 

Those outer reefs offer some incredible diving on sites that are rarely if ever dived by other boats.

MV Febrina and Alan Raabe – The South Coast

From Rabaul, MV Febrina covers the remote south coast of New Britain. Which is an area of Papua New Guinea that no other dive boats visit! Because of the special topography of New Britain island and its high mountain ranges, the weather patterns on the south coast are opposite to the north coast.

So MV Febrina takes advantage of that to take divers to the south coast at the optimum time of year!
