Seacam – My Journey…

In late 2023, a remarkable series of events aligned that led me to a formal association with SEACAM, the Austrian company I have always regarded as the Rolls-Royce of underwater photography equipment.

Me in Dominica – waiting for sperm whales…

In February 2024, I traveled from Sydney to Austria to collect the equipment I had requested, followed by three days of intensive technical training with their team.

That initial partnership deepened further, and just 12 months later I was honored with my formal appointment as a full SEACAM Ambassador.

Becoming an Ambassador was a huge step for me. It meant joining the prestigious ranks of leading underwater photographers who not only use SEACAM housings and strobes, but are also supported by the company. Many of these photographers have long been an inspiration to me, so being welcomed into that community was both humbling and motivating.

Since then, I have learned a tremendous amount from working with the team in Austria and using their world-class underwater housings, optics, and strobes. This collaboration has elevated both my technical capabilities and creative output as an underwater photographer.

To share that journey, I have started documenting my experiences with SEACAM equipment in the articles below—and more are on the way.

Upgrade to a $300 model when the first drives you crazy. Buy a $500 version thinking you’ve finally nailed it. Then, eventually, you fork out $1000 …
