The basic thing to understand about PNG is that it is one of the world’s most diverse and contrasting countries. It has a population of about 8m people, who speak more than 850 languages.
Those 8m people are divided in to nearly 1000 traditional tribes, clans and indigenous ethnic groups!
Papua New Guinea scuba diving is so good because the country is an integral part of the Coral Triangle. An area widely acknowledged as probably the richest area of marine biodiversity in the world. With over 600 species of coral and 3000 species of reef fish identified.
PNG was also a major theater of war during the Second World War. It it has a tremendous assortment of wrecks, plus many more still waiting to be found! Each of the sections below has links that will take you to a selection of pages. Those pages will provide you with an overview of that region of Papua New Guinea. In addition to descriptions of the diving and the associated logistics. Plus anything that is special about the area both under and above the water.
