On the Solomon Sea side of the peninsula that forms the north coast of Milne Bay is a small village called Lauadi. Above water there is not much to distinguish Lauadi from the numerous other villages in the area, but it’s what is underwater that makes Lauadi special.
Just off the beach is the famous muck diving site called Dinah’s Beach and at the headland of the bay that protects Lauadi is the equally well known site called Deacon’s Reef.
Deacon’s Reef is one of my favorite sites in Papua New Guinea and this Nuigini Blue article documents my personal perspective on it.
